Dujiangyan Irrigation System

Dujiangyan Irrigation System is honored as the 'Treasure of Sichuan', which still plays a crucial role in draining off floodwater, irrigating farms and providing water resources for more than 50 cities in the province. In China, Chengdu is always praised as the Tian Fu Zhi Guo, which means 'Nature's Storehouse'. Over 2,200 years ago, the city was threatened by the frequent floods caused by flooding of the Minjiang River (a tributary of the Yangtze River ). Li Bing, a local official of Sichuan Province at that time, together with his son, decided to construct an irrigation system on the Minjiang River to prevent flooding.After a lengthy study and a lot of hard work by the local people, the great Dujiangyan Irrigation System was completed.Since then, the Chengdu Plain has been free of flooding and the people have been living peacefully and affluently.

Qingcheng Mountain

Mount Qingcheng, located in the southwest of the Dujiangyan Irrigation System of China  in Sichuan Province, is one of the most famous Taoist mountains in China.It is also a very attractive and intriguing scenic spot that is covered by luxuriant and verdant trees. The mountain, which is surrounded by numerous peaks and is shaped like a city, is dubbed 'the most peaceful and secluded mountain under heaven' and combines perfectly with its evergreen scenery .

Dujiangyan Panda Park

Dujiangyan Panda Base, also known as China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Panda Dujiangyan Base, the only giant panda care, disease prevention and control institute in the world, is situated in Mt.Qingcheng Town, about 56 km (34 miles) northwest of Chengdu and 18 km (11 miles) from downtown Dujiangyan.Giant panda, Chinese national treasure, is one of the rarest animal species in the world. They total 1,864 in China with 74 percent in Sichuan Province, while Dujiangyan Panda Base owns 170.

Jinli

Chengdu is a city brimming with a strong leisurely ambience with Jinli Street as the typical representative.The street is located to the east of the  Wuhou Temple  of Chengdu (the most famous Three Kingdoms period (220 - 280) relic museum in China).

 It is recorded that as early as the Qin Dynasty (221 BC - 206 BC), Jinli Street was the most famous place for baldachin - a rich, ornate cloth.And it was one of the busiest commercial areas during the Shu Kingdom (221-263). Hence, it is known as 'First Street of the Shu Kingdom'. In order to reclaim its prosperity of former days, it was restored with contributions from the Wuhou Temple and was opened to public in October of 2004. Since then, visitors from all over China and abroad gather here to relax, admire the traditional-style buildings, and taste some local snacks.

Wide and Narrow Alley

Consisting of Wide Alley (Kuan Xiangzi), Narrow Alley (Zhai Xiangzi), Well Alley (Jing Xiangzi) three parallel ancient city alleys and 45 courtyards along them, Wide and Narrow Alley is one of Chengdu's historical and cultural reserves, together with Daci Temple reserve and  Wenshu Monastery reserve. It is a microcosm of the city's history as well as a deep mark in local people's memory. The history of Wide and Narrow Alley can be dated back to the Qing Dynasty  (1644 - 1911 AD).At that time, the area was a city within the Chengdu city called Mancheng City or Shaocheng City, where the court quartered troops.As time passed by, the city decayed and only the Wide Alley and Narrow Alley were left.In 2003, renovation work of the two alleys began, aiming to build a complex cultural and business street with the functions of tourism and recreation. On June 14, 2008, the newly renovated Wide, Narrow and Well Alley were opened to the public, located in nowadays Qingyang District, to the east of Tongren Road and west of Changshun Street.Nowadays, Wide and Narrow Alley is a popular entertainment and nightlife block as well as a famous tourism site, with lots of restaurants, pubs, teahouses, and stores selling featured souvenirs.

Thatched Cottage of Du Fu

Thatched Cottage of Du Fu is about 5km (3 miles) west of  Tianfu Square. Just as the name implies, it was the home of a famous poet, Du Fu, in Tang Dynasty (618-907). Du Fu was born in Gongyi City, Henan Province in 712. In 746, he took the official examination in Chang'an (now known as Xi'an ) and continued to live there for more than ten years after the failure. But, in order to get away from the An-Shi Rebellion breaking out in 758, he fled to Chengdu in 759. With the help of friends, the thatched cottage was built in 760 beside the Flower Bathing Brook on the western outskirts of Chengdu. During the four years stay there, he composed more than 240 poems that are considered to be precious national treasures.

Lhasa

Potala Palace

Potala Palace is the highest ancient palace in the world.Potala named after a holy hill in South India is a Sanskrit word meaning "Abode of the Avalokitesvara (Buddha of Mercy)." The Potala Palace is said to be used for greeting a Han Princess.Legend has it that in the 7th century, to greet his bride Princess Wen Cheng of the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907) of China, the then Tibet King Songtsen Gampo  built a 9-storey palace with a thousand rooms up on the Red Hill and named it Potala.The palace was mainly made of stones and woods, and decorated with special local willow branches called Baima Grass. Later, with the collapse of the Songtsen Gampo Dynasty, the ancient palace was almost destroyed in wars. What we see at present is the architecture of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) and the continuous expanding work outcome since the 17th century.

Jokhang Temple (Lhasa)

The Tang Dynasty (618 - 907), was characterized by economic prosperity and great progress in politics. During this time, China was considered the cultural and political center of the world. King Songtsem Gampo (617 - 650, the 33rd king of Tibet) was the leader of the Tubo (or Tibetan) Kingdom. He actively promoted Buddhism in that region and under his reign, Tibet achieved great progress in social innovation and realized the integration for the first time.In order to promote friendly relationships with the neighboring countries, he successively married Princess Bhrikuti of Nepal and Princess Wen Cheng of the Tang Dynasty. When the two wives arrived there, each brought a statue of Jowo Sakyamuni. During this time, most people lived in tents and there were few palaces. To house the Buddha brought by Princess Wen Cheng, King Songtsem Gampo constructed the Little Jokhang. Jealous of her, Princess Burikuti asked Gampo to build a Jokhang for her as well. Therefore, in 647 the giant complex was built.

Yongbulakam

Yongbulakam is located in the Tashi Mountain, 11 kilometers of Zedong Street, Shannan City, Xizang Province."Yongbu" means "mother e", named after Tashi xMountain looks like a mother e, [1] "Lackang" means "temple". Yongbulakam was the first palace in Tibetan history. According to historical records, it was first built in the second century BC. Songtsen Gampo period from a palace turned into a temple. When Princess Wencheng first came to Tibet, she would come with Songtsen Gampo here every summer. By the time of the fifth Dalai Lama, he had built four corners on the basis of the original Diaolou style building, and changed it into a yellow church temple.

Sangye Temple

Sangye Temple was built in the 8th century Tubo Dynasty period, is the first Tibetan monk to become a monk. The buildings in the temple are arranged according to the Buddhist cosmology, and the central Buddhist temple has three styles: Tibetan, Han and Indian, so the Sangye Temple is also called the Three sample Temple.

Yamdrok Yumtso Lake

The holy Yamdrok Yumtso Lake lies to the south of Yarlong Tsangpo River  in the Shannan Region of Tibet.It is one of three holy lakes in Tibet. As the largest freshwater lake at the south foot of the Himalayas with an area of about 638 square kilometers (about 246 square miles), it is in a length of 130 kilometers (about 81 miles) and a width of 70 kilometers (about 43 miles).Its surface is about 4,441 meters (about 14,570 feet) above the sea level.It is quite deep as the average depth is about 20-40 meters (about 11-22 fathoms) and the deepest point is almost 60 meters (about 33 fathoms) below the surface.

Karora Glacier

Far view, Karora Glacier is located at the junction of Langazi County and Gantse County, 71 kilometers away from Gantze County. One of the three major continental glaciers in Tibet, it is also the closest glacier to the highway in China. People can view the ancient glaciers up close.

Qomolangma Base Camp

Luozi Peak

Appearance, Luozi Peak, 8,516 meters above sea level, belongs to the Himalayas, is the fourth highest peak in the world.Luozi Peak means "the peak of the mountain to the south" in Tibetan, because it is located three kilometers south of Mount Everest, separated by a mountain col, commonly known as the "South col". North of Mount Everest is the Zhangzi Peak.

 In Tibetan, Luo Zifeng is also called "Ding Jie Xie Summer", which means "a beautiful fairy in blue".With the north ridge of the peak and the southeast ridge, the east side is in Qandang Township, Dingri County, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, and the west side is the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

Qilin Gorge

Zashlunpo klooster Lhasas, Tiibetis

Into the twelfth year of the Ming Dynasty orthodoxy, Zongkhaaba disciple Gendun Juba construction.After the fourth Panchen Lama sang to expand.The main hall of the temple can accommodate 2000 people to chant sutras. In the temple are the statues of Sakyamuni, and there are statues of Gendun Juba and the fourth Panchen state on both sides.On both sides of the hall are the Maitreya Hall and the mother Hall.
