At the edge of the Donana National Park wildlife refuge lies El Rocio, a small Spanish village most famous as the site of an annual religious pilgrimage. As Spain's most important and colorful procession, the El Rocio pilgrimage attracts nearly one million revelers, many dressed in fine Andalusian costumes. The town itself is a site to behold, with wide dusty streets, striking white cottages and wooden rails located throughout for tying up horses. The wetlands surrounding the town make it an excellent spot for bird watching and a great jumping off point for trips to Donana.
