Situated in the Coachella Valley, this California desert city is nicknamed the "City of Festivals" as it hosts many events. Indio became a city during the building of the Southern Pacific Railroad between Los Angeles and Yuma, Arizona during the 1870s. Some events the city holds include Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Riverside County Fair, National Date Festival, Indio International Tamale Festival, Southwest Arts Festival and Cabazon Indian National Pow Wow.
