The city of Santiago de Compostela is the capital of the community of Galicia, Spain. The area of Santiago de Compostela was originally a Roman cemetery by the 4th century, and the city has its origin in the shrine of Saint James the Great, which is currently the city's cathedral. The city's old town was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
