The city of Vacaville is located in Somona County, California, and is located between the cities of Sacramento and San Francisco. The city was founded in 1843 and was once a Pony Express stop; it was also home to many large produce companies and farms. Many rare and endangered species can be found in the city of Vacaville; some of these are endangered plants including the rare Legenre Limosa. The city of Vacaville is also the third-largest city in the Somona County.
