Vail is a ski town in central Colorado about 100 miles west of Denver. Founded in 1966, it was built as a base for Vail Ski Resort, made possible by the slopes and fine powder of Vail Mountain, the third highest in North America and perfect for skiing in winter as well as biking in summer. All the attractions are easily accessible thanks to the free public transit system. Shop and dine in Vail Valley along heated sidewalks. During off-season take a trip to Adventure Ridge, catch a show at the Gerald Ford Amphitheater, or visit the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum.
